Two teenagers rape 6 year old sister to death in Delta state
A 19-year-old boy, Felix Inia and his 16-year-old brother, Stanley are now cooling their heels at the headquarters of the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, for allegedly defiling their six-year-old stepsister, Precious Kankamor. The incident, which eventually led to the death of the victim, occurred at Ogbe-Ijoh community, Warri South Local Government Area of the state. The suspects were said to have had carnal knowledge of the minor by forcefully penetrating her, which led to severe injuries in the victim’s private part.
Besides the injuries sustained after the alleged sexual abuse, little Miss Precious later developed protruding stomach, leading to medical complications that eventually cut short the life of the victim. Investigation revealed that the suspects’ mother got married to the father of the deceased after her first marriage ended with the death of Mr. Inia. The now embattled mother moved into her new marriage with her teenage sons, who unsuspecting, had eyes on little Miss Precious immediately they stepped into their new home.
Israel Warns Citizens to Avoid Nigeria

Nigeria was listed among the nations that the Israeli authorities warned its citizens to avoid during the Passover holidays at the end of March for fear of attacks.
PM News Wednesday quoted an Israeli public radio which announced that the Israeli government also warned its citizens to avoid travel to Egypt’s Sinai resorts and several African states.
It warned of “the dangers of attacks” in the Sinai - scene of anti-Israeli attacks both before and since Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak’s 2011 ouster - and in Kenya, Mali, Morocco and Tunisia.
Indian Kashmir and southern Thailand were also on the list of destinations for Israeli holidaymakers to avoid.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its logo, motto and slogan with the broom symbol of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) becoming a central feature of the new grand coalition of opposition parties.
Amidst reports of ACN domination of the new party, the APC merger committee declared that the new logo was selected because it was the most suitable and appropriate at this point in time.
Unveiling the logo on Tuesday night, the chairman of the Joint Merger Committee, Chief Tom Ikimi accompanied by nine out of eleven governors of the APC declared the occasion as “another milestone in the opposition`s drive towards 2015.”
The adopted logo is the green-white-blue background with a broom on the white background with a red base. The party also adopted “Justice, Peace and Unity” as its motto, and settled for “Change” as its slogan.
Bieber hits back on Twitter
Justin Bieber slammed "fake stories" and "rumours" that have emerged after his recent antics in London, saying he can only be judged by "one power".
The star has displayed some erratic behaviour on his current tour to the English city, being photographed shirtless in the street and wearing a gas mask out in the city, and arriving over an hour late for a show at the O2 arena.
According to multiple sources, on the night of the show in question Bieber "didn't get out of until late and sat in his dressing room playing games - even though his door was being knocked. He then threw a strop as he said he wanted a shower first, despite already being late."
Rape now attracts life imprisonment in Nigeria
The House of Representatives on Tuesday March 5th approved life imprisonment for any person convicted of rape. They also approved a minimum of 20 years without an option of fine for persons convicted of gang raping someone.
The bill, which was sponsored by Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also approved 25 years imprisonment for any person who attempted to use chemical, biological or any harmful liquid on another person. (e.g pouring acid on anyone).
The bill also approved 4 years in jail or a fine not more than N200,000 or both for any person convicted of performing female circumcision and general mutilation or engaging someone to carry it out. Aiding female circumcision attracts N100, 000 or two years in jail or both.

Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, 58, dies of cancer
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has died
after a two-year battle with cancer, ending the socialist leader’s
14-year rule of the South American country, Vice -President Nicolas
Maduro, said in a televised speech.
In a national broadcast, Maduro said Chavez died Tuesday at 4.25pm Maduro teared up as he announced the news. Chavez, was 58.
CNN reports that Chavez’s democratic
ascent to the presidency in 1999 ushered in a new era in Venezuelan
politics and its international relations.
Once a foiled coup-plotter, the
swashbuckling former paratrooper was known for lengthy speeches on
everything from the evils of capitalism to the proper way to conserve
water while showering. He was the first of a wave of leftist presidents
to come to power in Latin America in the last dozen years.
As the most vocal United States adversary in the region, he influenced other leaders to take a similar stance.
Missing toddlers found dead after 39 days
Two toddlers in Ketu, Lagos State, who
were declared missing on January 25, 2013 have been found dead in an
abandoned vehicle on the premises of a building next to theirs on
Taike Street.
PUNCH Metro had on January 30, 2013, reported story of the kids – Toheeb Adedokun (three) and Tajudeen Falilu ( three).
The family as well as the police had suspected that they were kidnapped before the discovery of their remains on Monday.
Our correspondent learnt that the
vehicle in which the children were found was a Honda Pilot Sports
Utility Vehicle, which was used as collateral.
According to a police theory, the children went into the vehicle but were trapped inside, causing them to suffocate.
The Public Relations Officer, Lagos
State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, said the corpses were discovered by
bank officials, who had gone to redeem the vehicle.
She said, “On Monday, at about 4:30pm,
one Phillip Odi in company with Julius Odetola, both of whom are
employees of Berachah Microfinance Bank, reported that on the same day,
they received a text message from Macdonabi Jones Enterprise Limited, a
customer of the bank, who pledged his Honda Pilot as collateral.

MRS Oby Asadu, wife of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Chinwike Asadu, who was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Enugu last
Saturday, said, Tuesday, that she had decided to allow God handle the
murderers of her husband in His own way.
She told Vanguard at their Amorji Nike residence in Enugu, where she was receiving sympathisers, yesterday, that her late husband was a very quiet person who could not have hurt anybody to warrant being killed.
Mrs. Asadu spoke just as the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tonye Ebitibituwa, disclosed that several arrests had been made in connection with the murder of the police boss and the shooting of his two police escorts but declined to give details of their number and identity.

Abia University Strips Orji Kalu of Degree Certificate
The Abia State University has just released a statement withdrawing the degree certificate it awarded to a former governor of the state, Uzor Orji Kalu.
In withdrawing the certificate, the university said the admission and graduation of the former governor violated its extant rules and regulations.
A statement by the registrar of the university, O. E. Onuoha, said the decision to strip Mr. Kalu of the certificate after an emergency meeting of the university senate which considered the recommendations of an investigative panel which considered allegations of breach of the school's academic regulations by Mr. Kalu.

Daily Sun was reliably informed that Mrs. Odediran was given the beating of her life by Mrs. Musibau who was later joined by her husband who allegedly used sharp objects to beat the woman to the point of death. The incident threw the entire Ibala area of the town into mourning and efforts by residents of the area to get the man arrested proved abortive as he fled immediately Mrs. Odediran gave up the ghost.
67 Year-Old Australian Grandma Found Dead in South Africa after Meeting with 28 Year-Old Nigerian who Proposed on Online Dating Site
A 67 year-old grandmother from Australia has been found dead in South Africa where she travelled to meet a 28 year-old Nigerian she met on an online dating site.
The woman, Jette Jacobs was found dead in a Johannesburg guest house in February, two days after she met up with a man calling himself Jesse Orowo Omokoh. According to AU News, the pair struck up an online relationship three years ago. In 2010, Jacobs travelled to South Africa to meet him before he proposed late last year. Over several years she sent over $100,000 to him.
After he proposed, she wanted to settle in Nigeria but her children had begged her to stay in Australia. Yahoo News reports that her money, credit cards, laptop computer and jewellery were missing. Omokoh was the last person to see Jacobs alive and told police he found her body but he has since disappeared.
Although an empty pill bottle was found near her body and the South African police initially thought she had committed suicide, her children believe she was murdered.
“Anybody who knew my mother would know that there is no way that she would do that,” her daughter told 6PR.
President Goodluck Jonathan Pledges N3 Billion Grant to the Nigerian Movie Industry at Presidential Dinner to Celebrate Nollywood at 20
On Saturday 2nd March at the State House in Marina, Lagos, President Goodluck Jonathan hosted some Nollywood stars at a dinner to celebrate Nollywood at 20.
The dinner was organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Nigerian movie to be released on home-video; ‘Living in Bondage‘, which was released in September 1992.
The event had in attendance several actors and stakeholders in the Nigerian movie industry such as Genevieve Nnaji, Chidi Mokeme, Osita Iheme, Chinedu Ikedieze, Olu and Joke Jacobs, Segun Arinze, Stephanie Linus, Patience Ozokwor, Zack Orji, Madam Kofo, Desmond Elliot, Chiwetalu Agu, Cynthia Amadi, Amaka Igwe, Dickson Iroegbu, Zeb and Chico Ejiro, Kunle Afolayan, Tunde Kelani, Andy Chukwu and several others. The First Lady Patience Jonathan and other dignitaries were also present.

Kwara CP shot dead in Enugu
Gunmen on Saturday night struck at the Enugu residence of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chinwike Asadu, killing him instantly.
The police orderly to the slain CP, Aloha Olaniyi and driver, Oliver Omeh, who were with him, were also injured in the attack.
They sustained bullet wounds and are currently receiving treatment at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.
The incident occurred at Amorji Nike, near the densely populated Abakpa Nike area in Enugu East Local Government Area within the state capital at about 10.00 p.m.
The Police Commissioner, who reportedly visited his home in Enugu at the weekend, was driving into his private residence when the assailants, who may have laid an ambush, attacked him and his aides about 100 metres from his house.
