Retired General And Civil War Hero Murdered By Suspected Members Of Boko Haram

The Joint Task Force (JTF), in Maiduguri, today announced the death of Retired General Muhammadu, a Civil war hero, who was gunned down yesterday by suspected members of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
His killing occurred 24 hours after the sect gave conditions under which it would negotiate peace with the Federal Government.

It is reported that he was shot in his house by four men who were initially thought to have been his guest for Jumaat prayers. They entered the house and opened fire on the General and his visitors.

One of the guests died on the spot while the general died on the way to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

JTF said its troops in the area immediately cordoned off the area and that a search for the assailants was underway.
