Gunmen kill two soldiers in Bauchi

Unknown gunmen killed two soldiers and injured a civilian on Monday night along Kano-Potiskum-Maiduguri road on Azare Federal highway in Bauchi state.
The soldiers were attacked at a skewered meat spot (popularly called Suya) close to an AA Kankani petrol station.
The Second-in-Command to the Brigade Commander of 33 Artillery Brigade at Shadawanka Barracks in Bauchi, Lieutenant L. Adekanmbi confirmed the incident to Daily Trust in a telephone interview.
“Yes, they killed our men – two of them – we have received the report”

A top security source in Bauchi told Daily Trust correspondent that the gunmen killed the soldiers and took away their rifles. He also said the bodies of the deceased soldiers had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare. A civilain who suffered a bullet wound to the leg was also taken to the hosptial for treatment.
Resident of the area said the two soldiers went to the joint to buy suya and Indomie noodles before they met thier untimely death.
The incident caused panic and confusion among the residents and traders along the street and most traders hurriedly closed shop and fled home. The scene of the attack is the busiest spot and operates round the clock.
